This Privacy Policy explains how Barcode Scanner & QR Reader ("we", "our", or "the app") treats user information when you use our mobile application. We are fully committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring transparent handling of permissions.

2. Data Collection & Processing

We believe in data minimization. The application operates with offline-first principles:

• No Personal Data Collection: We do not collect, harvest, sell, or share personal identifying information such as your name, email address, phone number, or physical location.
• 100% On-Device Processing: All barcode and QR code scanning and image analysis take place entirely on your device hardware using local processing algorithms.
• Local Database Storage: Scan history and generated codes are stored locally on your device in an isolated local database. You have full control to clear this history at any time through the app settings.

3. Device Permissions & How They Are Used

To provide core functionalities, the app requests the following system permissions:

• Camera Permission (android.permission.CAMERA): Required solely to capture video streams in real-time to detect and decode QR codes and barcodes. Camera frames are processed instantly in volatile memory and are never saved or uploaded.
• Storage / Media Images Permission (READ_MEDIA_IMAGES / READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE): Used exclusively when you choose to scan a barcode from an existing image in your device gallery, or when you save a custom-generated QR code image to your photo gallery.
• Vibration Permission (android.permission.VIBRATE): Used to provide subtle haptic feedback when a code is scanned successfully.
• Internet Permission (android.permission.INTERNET): Used solely when you tap an external web link decoded from a QR code, or when you explicitly perform an online product barcode lookup.

4. Third-Party Services

The app does not integrate intrusive third-party tracking or analytics SDKs. When you scan a product barcode and request an online product search, search queries are performed via standard public search endpoints (e.g. OpenFoodFacts or Google Search) only upon your explicit request.

5. Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)

Our app does not address anyone under the age of 13, nor do we knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and have any questions, please contact us.

6. Security of Your Data

Because all scan records and generated codes are stored solely within your device's protected app sandbox, your data remains as secure as your personal mobile device. Uninstalling the application or selecting "Clear All Scan Data" permanently deletes all stored data.
